At only the second meet in, the Slicer Girls Track team is looking strong, with improvements from last week.
Riley Tuerff had a great day, placing 1st overall in both the 60m dash and 60m hurdles, with a time of 7.87 and 9.08, respectively. Both times have earned Tuerff a trip to Indoor State, and she is currently ranked number 1 in the state for her hurdle time.
The girls’ 2×200 team of Kayla Jones, Andréa Franklin, Aydin Shreves, and Riley Tuerff placed 2nd overall with a time of 1:51.18, and the team is waiting to see if they qualify for Indoor State.
It was a good day for field events as well. Kayla Jones and Andréa Franklin placed 1st and 2nd overall in the long jump, with a distance of 16′ 5.25″ and 16′ 3″, respectively. In shot put, Keatyn Boren placed 1st overall, with a distance of 34′ 6.75″. We will learn more this week as far as which athletes have qualified for Indoor State, but all distances are looking strong.
