LaPorte Slicers JV weathered a push by Valparaiso in the sixth inning where LaPorte coughed up five runs, but the Slicers still won 10-7 on Tuesday. Both offenses were strong at the plate as the Slicers collected 11 hits and Valparaiso seven in the high-scoring affair. Valparaiso got on the board in the first inning. An error scored one run for Valparaiso. Gavin Redlin led the LaPorte to victory on the hill. Redlin went two and a third innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four. Brock Schultz and Grant Olson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. The Slicers totaled 11 hits on the day. Ryan Bruemmer, Drew Flores and Brock Schultz all collected multiple hits for LaPorte. Bruemmer went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Slicers in hits. The Slicers are next in action Wednesday, April 7th at home when they will again take on Valparaiso. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm.
