LaPorte Slicers JV coasted to a victory over John Glenn 8-1 on Saturday. The Slicers opened up scoring in the second inning when they scored one run when Drew Catron doubled. LaPorte scored four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by the Slicers was led by Ben Dubbs and Drew Flores, all driving in runs in the frame. LaPorte tallied one home run in the inning when Flores put one over the right field fence for a three run shot. Gavin Redlin earned the victory on the hill for the Slicers. The pitcher went one inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits and walking one. Six other pitchers threw out of the bullpen as it was a scheduled bullpen day. LaPorte tallied nine hits in the game. Catron and Dubbs all managed multiple hits for the Slicers. Catron led the offense with three hits in four at bats. LaPorte was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Tommy Samuelson had the most chances in the field with seven. The Slicers are next in action Tuesday where they will take on Chesterton at DeCamp Field. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm.
