Despite a 6-run deficit in the sixth inning, LaPorte Slicers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-7 to Lake Central on Tuesday. LaPorte scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Kade Flores in the sixth, a walk by Evan Cizewski in the seventh, a double by Jaden Parkes in the seventh, and a groundout by Carson Stalbaum in the seventh.
Despite the loss, LaPorte Slicers did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Lake Central had 14 hits on the way to victory.
LaPorte evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning. Hayden Lowe singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
LaPorte notched three runs in the seventh inning. Slicers offense in the inning was led by Cizewski, Parkes, and Stalbaum, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Cam Worthington took the loss for LaPorte Slicers. The lefty surrendered five runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out four and walking one.
Stalbaum went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead LaPorte Slicers in hits.
