It came down to the wire on Wednesday, with LaPorte Slicers taking victory on a dramatic walk-off double in the late innings that sealed their victory over Valparaiso. The game was tied at one with LaPorte Slicers batting in the bottom of the tenth when Brady Bernth doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. LaPorte Slicer pitchers struck out 11, while Valparaiso pitchers sat down 14.
LaPorte Slicers opened up scoring in the third inning, when Bernth singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Valparaiso evened things up at one in the top of the seventh inning. Logan Lockhart drove in one when Lockhart singled.
