LaPorte nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-2 victory over South Bend Riley on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with LaPorte batting in the top of the sixth when Conner Stalbaum singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
South Bend Riley got on the board in the second inning when Bailey Harris singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
In the top of the fourth inning, LaPorte tied things up at two when Jacob Spence singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Parker Hill earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for LaPorte. He went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. David Applegarth threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Michael Burns started the game for South Bend Riley. He surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one
Carson Stalbaum, Logan Schroeder, Conner Stalbaum, Spence, Gavin Zolviniski, and Jack McGuire all had one hit to lead LaPorte.
