LaPorte stole the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over Highland on Thursday. The game was tied at three with LaPorte Slicer Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Gavin Zolvinski reached on a dropped third strike.
LaPorte fired up the offense in the second inning, when Carson Stalbaum grounded out, scoring one run.
Mason Schroeder led the LaPorte to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went two innings, allowing two runs on two hits and walking one. Jack McGuire threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. McGuire recorded the last three outs to earn the save for LaPorte.
Aj Reid took the loss for Highland. He went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking zero.
David Applegarth started the game for LaPorte. He surrendered one run on four hits over four innings, walking one
