LaPorte Slicers scored seven runs in the fifth on its way to a 13-1 victory over Goshen on Saturday. LaPorte’s big bats were led by Brock Lipscomb, Carson Crass, Jacob Spence, Conner Stalbaum, Grant Collins, and Zane Eskridge, all knocking in runs in the inning.
LaPorte got things moving in the first inning. Spence drove in one when he doubled.
LaPorte scored seven runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by LaPorte was led by Lipscomb, Crass, Spence, Stalbaum, Collins, and Eskridge, all driving in runs in the frame.
Shane Weaver earned the win for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. He allowed five hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking one.
Spence, Logan Schroeder, Stalbaum, Eskridge, Lipscomb, and Collins each collected one hit to lead LaPorte. The Slicers didn’t commit a single error in the field.
In game two, LaPorte effort to come back from down seven runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 11-10 to Goshen on Saturday. LaPorte put up six runs in the failed comeback. Jacob Spence, Josh Trim, David Applegarth, Carson Crass, and Spence came through with RBIs to lead the rally.
LaPorte got things moving in the first inning. Crass drove in one when he singled.
LaPorte put up four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Spence, Trim, and Applegarth.
Nick Moser took the loss for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. He went one inning, allowing three runs on one hit.
LaPorte collected 12 hits. Brock Lipscomb, Crass, Spence, and Trim all had multiple hits for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Lipscomb led LaPorte Slicer Varsity with three hits in three at bats.
