LaPorte Slicers JV Baseball Team Win New Prairie Tournament And End The Season With A 20-6 Record

LaPorte Slicers JV Baseball wrapped up their season on Saturday by winning the New Prairie Tournament. In the first game, La Porte Slicers JV easily dispatched Jimtown Junior Varsity Jimmies 12-2. La Porte Slicers JV opened the scoring in the first after James Morgan hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Jimtown Junior Varsity Jimmies committed an error, and Nolan Wilson doubled to center field, each scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV added one run in the third after Noah Combs doubled to center field. La Porte Slicers JV scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning. Luke Lambert singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Morgan singled, scoring two runs. Lincoln Grohs earned the win for La Porte Slicers JV. The lefty allowed zero hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four. Jon Rinkel pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for La Porte Slicers JV. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs while, striking out three and walking none. Morgan went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Wes Kaiser led La Porte Slicers JV with two hits in two at bats. Xander Daley led La Porte Slicers JV with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Morgan and Eli Combs each stole multiple bases for La Porte Slicers JV. La Porte Slicers JV stole eight bases in the game. La Porte Slicers JV didn't commit a single error in the field. Combs had the most chances in the field with seven. In the championship game, Khalen Matzke was dominant on the mound, as the starting pitcher rang up 13 strikeouts in La Porte Slicers JV's 8-1 victory over John Glenn Falcons. Matzke surrendered four hits and one run over six innings while walking two. La Porte Slicers JV opened the scoring in the first after Matzke hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Nolan Wilson, Nate Moses, and Noah Combs. Wilson and Matzke each drove in two runs for La Porte Slicers JV. Combs collected two hits for La Porte Slicers JV in four at bats. This marks the end of the season for the JV baseball team, the Slicers end the year with an impressive 20-6 record.
