LaPorte Slicers JV Baseball Sweeps Double Header Against Lowell

In the first game, La Porte Slicers JV were triumphant over Lowell Junior Varsity Red Devils 6-2. La Porte Slicers JV got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Noah Combs grounded out, and Khalen Matzke lined out, each scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV added two runs in the second after Nate Moses singled to right field. Nolan Wilson earned the win for La Porte Slicers JV. The starter allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Xander Daley and Ian Mitchell each appeared in relief for La Porte Slicers JV. Moses went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. James Morgan, Combs, and Moses each collected one hit for La Porte Slicers JV. Daley led La Porte Slicers JV with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. La Porte Slicers JV stole four bases in the game. La Porte Slicers JV turned one double play in the game. In the second game, La Porte Slicers JV won big over Lowell Junior Varsity Red Devils 10-1. La Porte Slicers JV got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jon Rinkel singled to left field, and La Porte Slicers JV scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV extended their early lead with five runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Wes Kaiser, Xander Daley, Luke Lambert, and Nate Moses. Lambert earned the win for La Porte Slicers JV. The starter gave up five hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. La Porte Slicers JV accumulated 10 hits in the game. Lambert led La Porte Slicers JV with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Lambert, Daley, and Rinkel each collected two hits for La Porte Slicers JV. The Slicers are next in action Tuesday, May 20th when they will take on the Portage Indians at home. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm and DeCamp Field.
