Nate Moses Drives 4 Runners Home In La Porte Slicers JV Victory Over New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars

Nate Moses drove in four runs on three hits to lead La Porte Slicers JV past New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars 20-5 on Friday. Moses doubled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring two. La Porte Slicers JV rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-1 in the first. La Porte Slicers JV were the first to get on the board in the first when Khalen Matzke hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double that drove in two. La Porte Slicers JV tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a double by Moses, an error, and a single by Noah Combs. In the top of the third, La Porte Slicers JV broke up the tie when a wild pitch scored one run. Then a single by Moses followed to extend the lead to 8-5. La Porte Slicers JV scored nine runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. James Morgan doubled, scoring two runs, Combs singled, scoring one run, Matzke doubled, scoring two runs, Luke Lambert drew a walk, scoring one run, and Nolan Wilson doubled, scoring three runs. Lincoln Grohs earned the win for La Porte Slicers JV. The hurler gave up three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out 10 and walking three. La Porte Slicers JV tallied 18 hits in the game. Xander Daley, Combs, and Moses each collected three hits for La Porte Slicers JV. Morgan, Wes Kaiser, and Jon Rinkel each collected multiple hits for La Porte Slicers JV. Lambert and Morgan each stole multiple bases for La Porte Slicers JV. La Porte Slicers JV ran wild on the base paths, collecting seven stolen bases for the game. La Porte Slicers JV turned one double play in the game. The game was called in the top of the 7th inning due to darkness and will revert back to the 6th inning score, which was 11-5 and still a LaPorte victory. The Slicers are next in action Tuesday, May 6th when they will take on the Merrillville Pirates at home. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm at DeCamp Field.
