La Porte Slicers JV Hold Off Chesterton Junior Varsity Trojans For Victory

Despite seeing their 4-run lead whittled down by the end, La Porte Slicers JV still held off for a 7-6 victory on Wednesday. Chesterton Junior Varsity Trojans closed the gap by scoring on a sacrifice fly, a sacrifice fly, a single, a fielder's choice, and a double. Khalen Matzke collected four hits in four at bats in the win. Matzke singled in the first inning, doubled in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning. The southpaw allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) while, striking out three and walking two. Ian Mitchell collected the save throwing one and two-thirds of an inning. With the tying run at second base, Mitchell had a big strike out and then induced a fly ball to end the game. La Porte Slicers JV collected 11 hits in the game. Kaiser provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led La Porte Slicers JV with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Morgan and Nate Moses each collected multiple hits for La Porte Slicers JV. The Slicers are next in action Saturday, April 26th when they will again head on the road to take on Plymouth. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 am.
