Paige White Leads LaPorte Varsity Softball Past Valparaiso Paige White collected three hits in four at bats, as LaPorte defeated Valparaiso 10-2 on Monday. White hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning. LaPorte opened the scoring in the first after Madi Squire hit a solo home run to left field on the first pitch of the game. LaPorte took the lead in the top of the second. Squire singled, scoring one run, to give LaPorte the lead, 2-1. LaPorte scored six runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Jersey Worthington to hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run, Mia Maxel homered to right field, scoring two runs, Allie Wiencek singled, scoring two runs, and Evie Travis singled, scoring one run. White hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fifth for the LaPorte. Shayla Sorg hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the sixth for the LaPorte. Maxel earned the win for LaPorte. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. LaPorte accumulated 13 hits in the game.
