Slicers defeat Mishawaka at home, 59-58

The La Porte Slicers boys varsity basketball team earned a weekend home sweep, narrowly defeating Sectional 3 foe, Mishawaka 59-58 in a nailbiter. Sawyer Tonagel knocked down the game-winning free throw with 0.7 seconds left to defeat the visiting Cavemen. The Slicers had four players in double figures, with Griffin Ott-Large leading the way with 16 points. Sawyer Tonagel, Destin Matzke, and Reed Raymond each had 10 points apiece for the Slicers. Nic Spence added 7 points to go along with 8 rebounds. With the victory, the Slicers improved to 11-4 on the season. Next up for La Porte is a DAC road contest at Michigan City next Friday night at 7:30 PM, as part of a Girls/Boys Varsity Doubleheader.
