The LaPorte Slicers came out swinging, but ultimately fell to the Crown Point Bulldogs 107-79. The Slicers won more individual events and relays, but the way points are structured, the Bulldogs dept prevailed. LaPorte had several 1-5 finishes (7 points), but Crown Point had several 2,3,4 finishes (9 points). The Slicers opened up the meet with a big win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Roman Garay (backstroke), Abbas Hakim (breaststroke), Otto Wildhart (butterfly), and Chaise Adrian (freestyle). The Bulldogs fielded their top four boys, and it was only the second time all season their Medley Relay was seriously challenged. The Same Quartet of swimmers also won the 400 Freestyle Relay, with Wildhart getting a lifetime PR in his relay split. Otto Wildhart won both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Fly. Wildhart was close to his lifetime best in the 50 Free. Divers Andrew Hayes and Marco Serna went 1-2 with scores of 203.80 and 189.75 respectively. Roman Garay won the 100 Backstroke, and had a lifetime PR in the 100 Freestyle while finishing second. Abbas Hakim won the 100 Breaststroke, and also finished second in the 200 Individual Medley. Chaise Adrian finished second in one of the closest races of the evening, the 200 Freestyle. Adrian was racing Bulldogs speedster Abel Guel, and was out-touched by a couple of tenths of a second, while swimming a 1:49.82. That was Chaise's second fastest 200 ever, and he did it while unsuited, and untapered. Adrian also had a close finish in the 500 Freestyle, finishing second to Lucas Barnes. Even though the score shows a 28 point loss, it was a very exciting meet. The Slicers travel to Hobart on Thursday. Their record falls to 12-3. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
