The LaPorte Slicers Swimming and Dive team fell to the Lake Central Indians 110-76 tonight. The Slicers won more events than they lost, but Lake Central's depth was too much for LaPorte. The Slicers opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, with: Roman Garay (backstroke), Abbas Hakim (breaststroke), Otto Wildhart (butterfly), and Chaise Adrian (freestyle). Garay, Hakim and Wildhart all had season best relay split times. Chaise Adrian won both the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle with season best times in both. His 200 Free time was close to his lifetime best from Sectionals last year. Abbas Hakim won the 100 Breaststroke, and was out-touched in the 200 Individual Medley at the wall, and finished a very close second. Otto Wildhart won the 100 Butterfly in impressive fashion, and had an excellent 50 Freestyle, in which he finished a close second, due to a less than optimal start. The 50 Freestyle is one of the few events that allows no room for the slightest error. It's a very unforgiving race, but Wildhart really did a great job with the rest of the race. LC's Cal Bowman won with a lifetime PR of 21.35. Roman Garay won the 100 Backstroke, with a lifetime best swim of 55.46. He finished second in the 100 Freestyle with another lifetime best swim. Garay continues to improve every meet, and he should be doing great things by Sectionals. Wildhart, Adrian, Garay and Hakim finished the meet for LaPorte with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay. All four Slicers had season best relay splits in the race. All in all, we had some excellent racing on the part of our boys. The Slicers host Highland on Thursday, and it's Senior Night. Their record falls to 8-2. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
