LaPorte Girls Swimming Beats Mishawaka Marian 159-77, and Jimtown 159-28

The Slicers Girls Swim team defeated the Mishawaka Marian Knights and the Jimtown Jimmies 159-77, and 159-28 respectively today. LaPorte's depth and specialty skills were the deciding factor in the meet today. The Slicers opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 Medley Relay with: Cali Hatala (backstroke), Noor Hakim (breaststroke), Megan Zolvinski (butterfly), and Lily Siford (freestyle). Cali Hatala won both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Marian's Grace Zentz made it a tight race through the first 50 of the backstroke, then, Hatala's endurance gave her the win. Megan Zolvinski and Noor Hakim went 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley with Zolvinski out-touching Hakim by 0.10 seconds for the win. Zolvinski also won the 100 Butterfly, and Hakim won the 100 Breaststroke. Isabel Barron and Lily Siford went 1-2 in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle. Barron almost negative split her 100 Free. LaPorte went 1-2 in the 200 Freestyle Relay with: Barron, Grace Caviston, Siford and Zolvinski. They finished the meet with a strong win in the 400 Freestyle Relay with: Barron, Caviston, Hatala and Katelyn Peterson. The Slicers travel to Lake Central on Tuesday. Their record climbs to 9-3.
