The Slicers Boys Swimming and Dive team traveled to Lowell today and defeated Lowell 68-34, and Calumet New Tech 87-3. LaPorte won every event except Diving and the 200 Freestyle Relay. The boys have been training hard, and they were tired coming in. However, when the racing started, their focus was apparent, and they got the job done. Winning for LaPorte were: 200 Medley Relay: Roman Garay (backstroke), Abbas Hakim (breaststroke), Otto Wildhart (butterfly), and Chaise Adrian (freestyle). 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle: Chaise Adrian 200 Individual Medley: James Quadlin 50 Freestyle: Otto Wildhart 100 Butterfly: Roman Garay 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke: Abbas Hakim 100 Backstroke: Andrew Hayes 400 Freestyle Relay: Adrian, Wildhart, Garay, and Hakim Shoutouts to Freshmen James Quadlin and Cameron Hatala, who have been stepping up big time in the Individual Medley, 500 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. Also, Diver Andrew Hayes, who sometimes pulls double duty, won the 100 Backstroke in a tight race against teammate and butterflier Otto Wildhart. It was an excellent race for both boys, especially with Wildhart, who almost never swims backstroke. Garay, an excellent backstroke specialist and distance freestyler, stepped out of his comfort zone and took on the 100 fly. Garay dominated the event and easily won. The Slicers record climbs to 5-1, and they host Portage next Thursday, December 12th. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
