The Slicers Girls Swim Team beat the New Prairie Cougars 92-84 in a very close meet today. The score went back and forth for most of the meet until the final 3 events, which LaPorte won. LaPorte opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Cali Hatala (Backstroke), Noor Hakim (Breaststroke), Megan Zolvinski (Butterfly), and Lily Siford (Freestyle). New Prairie won the next two events. Megan Zolvinski and Lily Siford of LaPorte then went 1-2 in the 50 Freestyle to even things up. The girls then went 2,3,4 in the 100 Butterfly, with Zolvinski, Isabel Barron, and Lyla Bannwart picking up the points. Siford won the 100 Freestyle, and Regan Hughes easily won the 500 Freestyle to put LaPorte ahead. New Prairie went 1-3 in the 200 Freestyle Relay. That put the Cougars ahead, until the 100 Backstroke. LaPorte's Cali Hatala and Regan Hughes went 1-2. Noor Hakim then won the 100 Breaststroke by 13 seconds and the Slicers closed out the meet with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay by 10 seconds with Katelyn Peterson, Regan Hughes, Isabel Barron and Noor Hakim. The Slicers were down a couple of swimmers due to the holiday break, and more than made up for it with some gutsy swims. The Slicers record climbs to 4-1 and they host Michigan City and Marquette on Tuesday. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
