LPVB finishes 2nd in Slicer Invite

The LaPorte varsity volleyball team finished runner-up in the 12-team Slicer Invitational on Saturday. The Slicers recorded victories over Andrean (25-14, 28-26), Mishawaka Marian (25-15, 25-15) and Valparaiso (19-25, 25-14, 20-18) before falling to undefeated FW Carroll (25-10, 25-15) in the championship. Offensively, Avery Tulacz led the way with 34 kills, while Kaitlin Wilson added 21. Madison Copeland contributed 14 kills on the day. Elizabeth Anglin dished out a team-best 71 assists. Defensively, Anglin had 31 digs with Shayla Sorg tallying 29 digs. Tulacz (24), Mia Mendoza (21) and Emma Hull (15) all finished with double figure digs. At the net, Copeland had four blocks, while Anglin and Tessa Koepke had three blocks each. From the service line, Anglin had nine aces with Hull tallying four.
