Last Friday, 4 members of the Slicer Student Athletic Council attended the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This conference is the LARGEST student gathering in the nation, with over 1,000 student-athletes from over 100 schools in attendance. La Porte HS student-athletes Drew Bush (Tennis), Natalie Gartland (Cheer/Track), Lila Gillisse (CC/Track), and Avery Tulacz (Volleyball) attended on behalf of Slicer Athletics with chaperones Mr. Santana (AD) and Mr. Sherman (Asst AD). The students participated in 5 rotations on the day, including listening to 3 incredible speakers. They also participated in "Rule the Road", a safety initiative from the Indiana State Police that makes young drivers aware of different roadway safety situations. Lastly, the groups were taken for rides on the Speedway - all 2.5 miles of it (twice)!
