LaPorte Boys Track & Field Team earned a 4th place finish, set two new school records, and qualified for next week's State Championship in 4 events at last night's Valparaiso Regional. Tayshaun Williams was the Regional Champion in the 200, and earned a 2nd place finish in the 100m dash; Willie Clay finished second with a new school record time of 48.97 in the 400m Dash. Finally, the 4x400 Relay team of Clay, Dylan West, Landyn Hunt, and Williams were Regional Champions beating their own school record set a week ago with a time of 3:21.83. This is the 4th school record set this year. Full Results can be found here: https://live.temporuntiming.com/meets/38342 The Slicers finished with 59.5 points, good for 4th place. Crown Point won the meet with a score of 83. While it may be the end of the season for many of our athletes, they refused to go down without a fight. The Slicers scored top 8 finishes in 10 of 16 events. Our senior class has compiled a resume that puts them among the greatest Slicer Track & Field programs with a 4 year compiled record of 20-8 in the DAC, 2022 & 2024 Sectional Championships, a 2022 Regional Championship, numerous school records, state medalists, and a chance for more next weekend in Bloomington. They have left a lasting legacy on Slicer Track & Field, and It has been a honor to coach these athletes. The Slicers will travel to Bloomington next week to compete at the IHSAA State Championships next Saturday.
