La Porte Varsity Softball beat Portage 6-4 on Wednesday. La Porte opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to singles by Reghan Stephany and Madi Squire. La Porte added one run in the second when Reghan Penziol singled, making the score 3-0. Reagan Willoughby drove in one in the fifth with a line drive single to center field. La Porte scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to center field by Shayla Sorg. La Porte piled up 12 hits in the game. Sorg led La Porte with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and a home run . Squire led La Porte with three hits in five at bats. Marcy Bearickx earned the win for La Porte. The lefty surrendered six hits over seven innings, striking out nine.
