Both teams were strong on the hill on Tuesday, but Chesterton was just a little bit stronger at the plate as the Slicers lost 2-1. Cody Benedict started the game for LaPorte and recorded 16 outs. The starter took the loss but threw a very good game. He went five and one-third innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out eight and walking four. The Slicers were in it until the end when a ground out took the lead in the sixth. LaPorte opened the scoring in the fifth after an error scored one run. Benedict and Reed Raymond each collected one hit for the Slicers. The Slicer JV Baseball team is next in action tomorrow, April 24th, when they will again take on Chesterton. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m. at DeCamp Field.
