Big Fourth Inning Leads LaPorte Slicers JV Baseball Past Plymouth JV

LaPorte Slicers JV scored six runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat Plymouth JV 11-1 on Saturday at DeCamp field. Dawson Shreve singled, scoring one run, Owen Barenthin grounded out, scoring one run, Cody Benedict singled scoring another and Reed Raymond tripled scoring three to wrap up the inning. LaPorte opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run. The Slicers scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to right field by Benedict. Preston Scheidt earned the win for LaPorte. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Steven Poe and Joey Kirk each threw an inning in relief for the Slicers. Benedict went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead LaPorte in hits. Jack Travis paced the Slicers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Keegan Ramos stole two bases. LaPorte had four stolen bases in the game. The Slicers JV baseball team is next in action Tuesday, April 23rd, when they will travel to Chesterton for a 4:30 scheduled start.
