La Porte Varsity Softball wins 16-8 over Portage

Big day at the plate by Reghan Stephany and Shayla Sorg propel La Porte Varsity Softball past Portage 16-8 on Tuesday at home. Stephany went 2-for-3 with two walks. Sorg went 3-for-4 driving in four runs. La Porte flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on four hits to take a 11-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Sorg that drove in two. Gabby Bush started in the circle for La Porte. The righty gave up four hits and seven runs over four and one-third innings, striking out two. Marcy Bearickx took the win for La Porte striking out three in relief. La Porte amassed 10 hits in the game. Stephany, Sorg, Madi Squire, Reagan Willoughby, Jersey Worthington, Reghan Penziol, and Bearickx all collected hits for La Porte. Lauren Poe led La Porte with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. La Porte was solid on the field and didn't commit a single error. Stephany made the most plays with six.
