LaPorte Slicers JV Baseball Falls To Crown Point JV

LaPorte Slicers JV fell to the Crown Point Bulldogs 10-5 on Wednesday at DeCamp Field. Crown Point jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when a single scored two and a ground out scored another. LaPorte came back to take the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the second after an error scored one run, Keegan Ramos singled, scoring two runs and Joey Kirk drew a walking scoring another run. Crown Point again tied the game in the top of the third. The Slicers then again took the lead back in the bottom of the third on a single by Ramos making the score 5-4. Crown Point then tied it back up in the fourth inning and took the lead for good in the fifth. Ramos took the loss for LaPorte. The starting pitcher went four and one-third innings, surrendering nine runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking five. Khalen Matzke finished the game throwing two and two-third innings, allowing one run (none earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking two. Dawson Shreve and Ramos each collected multiple hits for the Slicers. Ramos led LaPorte with three runs batted in. LaPorte Slicers JV baseball is next in action Saturday, April 13th, when they will take on Goshen at DeCamp Field beginning at 10:00 a.m.
