LaPorte Slicers JV beat Portage Junior Varsity Indians 8-1 on Friday at DeCamp Field. The Slicers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Joey Kirk singled and Reed Raymond walked, each scoring a run. Cody Benedict pitched LaPorte to victory. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 8 and walking two. Khalen Matzke came on in relief to throw the final two innings, striking out four and walking one. Raymond went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Slicers in hits. Benedict, Jack Travis, Keegan Ramos and Kirk each drove in one run for LaPorte. Raymond and Travis each stole multiple bases for the Slicers. LaPorte stole eight bases in the game. The Slicers will next head to Logansport tomorrow, April 6th, where they will first take on Lafayette Jeff at approximately 12:15 p.m. followed by Logansport at approximately 2:15 p.m.
