Boys Track & Field Fares Well at HSR Qualifier

The Laporte boys, slicers track and field team traveled to Indiana Wesleyan University for the 1st Hoosier State Relays Qualifier of the season on Friday night and put on a show. Throughout the night, the slicers won events in total, and had many other top finishes. Leading the way was Brayden Sobecki in the 3200 with a winning time of nine 9:45.92. Also winning the individual event was Tayshaun Williams, winning the 60m Dash with a personal best time of 6.98. Senior Drew Flores finished third in the event with a personal best time of his own 7.15. The Slicers also won the 4 x 200 relay (1:3280), 4 x 400 relay (3:30.39) as well as the 4000 m distance medley relay (11:14.69). Lastly, Darius Hurt tied for the top performance in the long jump with a personal best distance of 20’-6.5”. Malachi Washington finished 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 44-4.5, and Lucas DelRio finished 5th with a distance of 42-10.5.
