The LaPorte Slicers Girls Swimming and Diving team lost to a very deep Culver Girls Academy team 131-52. The Slicers, once again, swam well, with several personal best efforts. Katelyn Peterson dropped 5 seconds in her 200 Freestyle, and over a second in the 100 Freestyle. Madi Griffin PR'd in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Abigail Burger swam the 500 Freestyle for the first time, and finished second. Liz Luna dropped 4 seconds in both the 500 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. Lyla Bannwart dropped a whopping 31 seconds in the 500 Freestyle. Cali Hatala finished 2nd in the 100 Backstroke. Noor Hakim had two exciting races, the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke. The 100 Breaststroke was probably the closest race of the evening for the Slicers. Hakim was in 3rd at the 50, but surged ahead to finish second, only 4 hundredths of a second off of her lifetime best. Sometimes, the score belies the effort and improvement this young team is makinig. The Coaches and I can't wait to see how much more they improve before Sectionals. The Slicers host Lowell and Calumet in a tri-meet this Saturday. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
