SLICERS BATTLE BULLDOGS ON THE ROAD 27-14 Loss

By Brandon Williams | Oct 1, 2026 11:00 PM

SLICERS BATTLE BULLDOGS ON THE ROAD The La Porte Slicers traveled to Crown Point tonight to take on the Bulldogs in another Duneland Athletic Conference matchup. La Porte wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. #21 Logan Wiesemann connected with #5 Landen Marshall for a 40-yard touchdown, giving the Slicers an early 6-0 lead. Crown Point answered with a touchdown of its own and converted the PAT to move ahead 7-6. The Bulldogs found the end zone twice more before halftime, sending La Porte into the break trailing 20-6. But the Slicers weren’t finished. La Porte came out of halftime looking for an opportunity to change the momentum, and #5 Landen Marshall provided it by intercepting the Bulldogs and giving the Slicer offense another possession. The Slicers continued battling into the fourth quarter, and then they reached deep into the playbook. #7 Brantley Mannella delivered the ball to #14 Nick Dubbs, who pitched it back to #23 Kason Sheblosky on a perfectly executed hook-and-ladder. Sheblosky took it the rest of the way for a 55-yard touchdown. Wiesemann then converted the two-point attempt, and suddenly a game that had been 20-6 at halftime was 20-14. The Slicers had fought their way right back into it. Crown Point was eventually able to answer with another touchdown, extending its advantage to 27-14, which would stand as the final score. The scoreboard didn’t fall La Porte’s way tonight, but this group once again showed something that has defined its season: they continued to fight. Down two scores on the road, they created a turnover. They reached into the playbook and executed when they needed a big play. They pulled themselves back within one possession and gave themselves an opportunity. Sometimes you make deposits. Sometimes you get to cash the check.
