SLICERS MOVE TO 4-1! Freshman vs Lake Central High School (18-8) Win Tonight, your La Porte Slicers welcomed the Lake Central Indians to Kiwanis Stadium for another DAC matchup. The Slicer defense made its presence known early when #2 Drake Lidgard intercepted a Lake Central pass in the first quarter, giving La Porte an early opportunity. The offense took advantage as #21 Logan Wiesemann connected with #14 Nick Dubbs for the touchdown, putting the Slicers on top 6-0. Lake Central answered in the second quarter with a touchdown and successful two-point conversion to take an 8-6 lead. The Slicers responded quickly. Wiesemann once again found Dubbs, this time for a 25+ yard touchdown, giving the duo their second score of the night and putting La Porte back in front. The defense wasn’t finished creating turnovers. #5 Landen Marshall ripped the ball out of the air for another Slicer interception, stealing another possession away from Lake Central. Early in the fourth quarter, Wiesemann got it done with his legs, finding the end zone on a 5-yard touchdown run to extend the La Porte lead to 18-8. With just 30 seconds remaining, #7 Brantley Mannella slammed the door shut with the Slicers’ third interception of the night, returning it deep into Lake Central territory.
