The La Porte Slicers win the season finally defeating the Portage Indians 28-21. Portage struck first early in the 1st quarter by scoring on the opening drive. The Slicers answered back with a 40 yard touch down run by Isaiah Hancock and a successful 2 pt. conversion by Reed Raymond to go up 8-7. In the 2nd quarter Bryce Jones found the endzone with a 35 yard touchdown run followed by another successful 2 pt. try for Raymond to put the Slicers up 16-7. Evisu Patton was able to track down and get an interception late in the 2nd quarter to help keep the lead going into the half. The Slicers received the ball to start the 3rd quarter and opened the half with a Reed Raymond touchdown to extend the lead to 22-7. Portage answered back with a score of their own and a successful 2pt try to make the score 22-15. In the 4th The Indians fought back and were able to find the endzone again but on the 2 pt try the Slicers defense came up huge by making a stop at the 1 to make the score 22-21 La Porte. Late in the 4th Reed Raymond and your La Porte Slicers found the end zone one more time to bring the final score to 28-21. The Slicers finished the season with a record of 5-3 and look to build on that momentum headed into the offseason. We are extremely proud of this group of young men and look forward to watching them continue to grow.
