Slicers Move to 2-0 With Road Shutout at Lowell The La Porte Slicers hit the road tonight to take on the Lowell Red Devils and came home with another victory, improving to 2-0 on the season with their second consecutive shutout. The Slicers broke through with 3:52 remaining in the first quarter when #21 Logan Wiesemann found an opening and took it 60 yards to the house, putting La Porte on the board with an explosive rushing touchdown. The Slicer defense continued doing what it has done all season—keeping opponents out of the end zone and giving the offense opportunities to make plays. With just 50 seconds remaining before halftime, #23 Kason Sheblosky provided another big play. Sheblosky broke free on the ground and raced 45 yards for a touchdown, giving La Porte its second score of the night. The Slicers weren’t finished making plays before the break. On the ensuing kickoff, #28 Austin Aguilar executed a perfectly placed short pooch kick that was recovered by #42 Owen Travis, allowing La Porte to steal another possession just before halftime. The second half turned into a defensive battle, with neither team able to put points on the scoreboard. La Porte’s defense held strong until the final whistle, preserving the shutout and securing the Slicers’ second victory of the young season. Through two games, the Slicers have yet to allow a single point. Two games. Two wins. Two shutouts. With non-conference play now behind them, the Slicers turn their attention to the Duneland Athletic Conference and begin their run for the DAC crown.
