Big First Inning Leads La Porte Slicers JV Past Portage Junior Varsity Indians

La Porte Slicers JV scored eight runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Portage Junior Varsity Indians 12-0 on Wednesday at DeCamp Field. Ian Mitchell singled, scoring one run, Wes Kaiser singled, scoring one run, Andrew Colon singled, scoring one run, Jayden Proffitt grounded out, scoring one run, Madix Splix singled, scoring one run, Zack Donah doubled, scoring one run, Quinn White doubled, scoring one run, and Jake Dickman singled, scoring one run. La Porte added one run in the second after Kaysen Henriott hit a sacrifice fly. The Slicers added two runs in the third. Mitchell doubled to center field, making the score 11-0. Dickman earned the win for La Porte. The hurler surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. White pitched two innings of no-run ball for the Slicers in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out five and walking one. La Porte collected 14 hits in the game. Mitchell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Slicers with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Mitchell, Kaiser, White, Dickman, and Donah each collected two hits for La Porte. Eli Combs stole two bases. The Slicers stole eight bases in the game. The La Porte Slicers JV will wrap up their season on Saturday, May 23, with a tournament at New Prairie.
