Clutch Hitting Propels La Porte Varsity Softball To Victory Over South Bend Riley

Kieanna Simpson drove in five runs on two hits to lead La Porte Varsity Softball past South Bend Riley 13-3 on Saturday. Simpson tripled in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one. La Porte opened the scoring in the first after Madi Squire singled, scoring one run. La Porte added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Simpson grounded out, Mia Johnson singled down the right field line, and Lexi Surowiec singled to left field, each scoring one run. La Porte added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Simpson tripled, scoring three runs, and Evie Travis singled, scoring one run. Simpson earned the win for La Porte. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two and walking four. La Porte amassed 12 hits in the game. Squire led La Porte with three hits in three at bats. Surowiec and Shayla Sorg each collected multiple hits for La Porte. La Porte was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. La Porte will travel to Hebron for their next game on Monday.
