LaPorte Slicer Varsity Secure Win Against Bremen Lions Baseball By GameChanger Media LaPorte Slicer Varsity took down Bremen Lions Baseball 12-8 on Monday. LaPorte Slicer Varsity jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after an error scored one run, and Jordan Anderson homered to left field, scoring two runs. LaPorte Slicer Varsity added three more runs in the top of the fourth inning on three hits. CT Rusboldt homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Noah Combs singled, scoring one run. Three more LaPorte Slicer Varsity runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 9-2. Cody Benedict hit a solo home run to center field, Combs doubled, scoring one run, and Khalen Matzke doubled, scoring one run. Joey Kirk earned the win for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. The starter allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking three. Aiden Alvarado took the loss for Bremen Lions Baseball. The righty went four innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking five. Nate Moses, Matzke, and Rusboldt each appeared in relief for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. LaPorte Slicer Varsity piled up 14 hits in the game. Matzke led LaPorte Slicer Varsity with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 3-for-5 on the day. Matzke and Combs each collected three hits for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Benedict and Jon Rinkel each collected multiple hits for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. LaPorte Slicer Varsity had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Anderson and Rusboldt led the team with two bases on balls each. Max Barnes, Alvarado, and Jace Pippenger each drove in two runs for Bremen Lions Baseball. Zack Buszkiewicz led Bremen Lions Baseball with two hits in four at bats. Corban Van Vuren paced Bremen Lions Baseball with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. LaPorte Slicer Varsity will travel to Merrillville Pirates for their next game on Tuesday.
