La Porte Slicers JV Lose To New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars

La Porte Slicers JV fell to New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars 4-2 on Friday. The Slicers were the first to get on the board in the first when Ian Mitchell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Eli Combs walked, which helped La Porte Slicers JV tie the game at two in the top of the second. Mitchell pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for La Porte. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out five and walking none. Nolan Darrell took the loss for the Slicers. The starter went two and one-third innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Mitchell led La Porte with one run batted in. Wes Kaiser led the Slicers with two hits in four at bats. Mitchell stole two bases. La Porte ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game. The La Porte Slicers JV is next in action Tuesday, May 5th, when they will head on the road to take on the Merrillville Pirates. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
