LaPorte Slicer Varsity Defeated By New Prairie Varsity Cougars By GameChanger Media LaPorte Slicer Varsity could not keep pace with New Prairie Varsity Cougars 8-3 on Friday. LaPorte Slicer Varsity were the first to get on the board in the first when Cody Benedict doubled, scoring one run. New Prairie Varsity Cougars flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring eight runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Connor Tidwell that drove in two. Colton Griffiths earned the win for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Benedict took the loss for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs (zero earned) on eight hits, striking out six and walking two. Benedict and CT Rusboldt were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Benedict and Joey Kirk were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Reed Robinson and Sullivan Kress were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for New Prairie Varsity Cougars while hitting back-to-back. Tidwell and Kress each drove in two runs for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. Robinson stole two bases. New Prairie Varsity Cougars were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Robinson had the most chances in the field with seven. LaPorte Slicer Varsity will travel to Bremen Lions Baseball for their next game on Monday.
