Jon Rinkel’s Big Day Propels LaPorte Slicer Varsity Past Michigan City Wolves By GameChanger Media Jon Rinkel collected three hits in three at bats, as LaPorte Slicer Varsity defeated Michigan City Wolves 23-3 on Wednesday. Rinkel singled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the third inning. LaPorte Slicer Varsity scored 14 runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Jordan Anderson singled, scoring one run, Keegan Ramos doubled, scoring one run, Cody Benedict singled, scoring one run, Joey Kirk grounded out, scoring one run, Rinkel singled, scoring one run, Noah Combs singled, scoring one run, Khalen Matzke doubled, scoring two runs, Ramos singled, scoring one run, Benedict singled, scoring three runs, Kirk singled, scoring one run, and one run scored on a balk. LaPorte Slicer Varsity opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three walks. LaPorte Slicer Varsity first got on the board when Combs drew a walk, scoring one run. LaPorte Slicer Varsity added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Kirk doubled down the left field line, and Rinkel singled, each scoring one run. Stephen Poe earned the win for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. The hurler gave up four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking four. Jake Hazel took the loss for Michigan City Wolves. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Micah McCullough started the game for Michigan City Wolves. The pitcher surrendered one hit and three runs (zero earned) over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking three. LaPorte Slicer Varsity tallied 15 hits in the game. Benedict and Rinkel each collected three hits for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Matzke, Kirk, and Rinkel each drove in three runs for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Ramos and Combs each collected multiple hits for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. LaPorte Slicer Varsity had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Nate Moses, Matzke, and Anderson led the team with two bases on balls each. LaPorte Slicer Varsity turned one double play in the game. Mahdi Mroueh drove the middle of the lineup, leading Michigan City Wolves with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hazel, Jayvin Williams, Derrick Fowler, and Mroueh each collected one hit for Michigan City Wolves. LaPorte Slicer Varsity welcome New Prairie Varsity Cougars on Friday for their next game.
