Andrew Colon Leads La Porte Slicers JV Past Michigan City Junior Varsity Wolves

Andrew Colon was dominant on the bump, as the righty rang up 11 strikeouts in La Porte Slicers JV's 28-1 victory over Michigan City on Tuesday at DeCamp Field. Colon allowed zero hits and one run (none earned) over five innings while walking two. La Porte won thanks in part to 15 runs in the second inning. Colon doubled, scoring one run, Ryan Kavanaugh hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Zack Donah drew a walk, scoring one run, Quinn White drew a walk, scoring one run, Ian Mitchell was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kaysen Henriott singled, scoring one run, Madix Splix doubled, scoring three runs, White was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Jake Dickman singled, scoring two runs. The Slicers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Colon doubled to center field, Wes Kaiser singled to the left side of the infield, Henriott singled to the left side of the infield, Kavanaugh grounded out, Michigan City committed an error, Donah singled, and White singled to center field, each scoring one run. La Porte scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Eli Combs singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Noah Bushong hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Joshua Means doubled, scoring one run. The Slicers piled up 16 hits in the game. Colon went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead La Porte in hits. Henriott, Kavanaugh, White, and Colon each drove in two runs for the Slicers. Combs collected two hits for La Porte in two at bats. The Slicers had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Kaiser and Donah led the team with two walks each. Henriott and Jayden Proffitt each stole multiple bases for La Porte. The Slicers ran wild on the base paths, collecting seven stolen bases for the game. La Porte Slicers JV will next be in action Wednesday, April 29th when they will head on the road to again take on Michigan City. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm.
