First-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Valparaiso Freshman Vikings Past La Porte Slicers “C” Team

Valparaiso Freshman Vikings defeated La Porte Slicers “C” Team 15-1 on Thursday thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning. La Porte were the first to get on the board in the first when Nolan Darrell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The game was flipped on its head in the bottom of the first, when Valparaiso scored nine runs on three hits to take the lead, 9-1. Josh Means took the loss for the Slicers. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up nine runs (five earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking six. Four different pitchers came on in relief for La Porte. Madix Splix, Brayden Watson, and Jayden Proffitt each collected one hit for the Slicers. Darrell led the team with one run batted in. La Porte turned one double play in the game. La Porte Slicers “C” team will next be in action Thursday, May 14th when they will take on South Central at DeCamp Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
