La Porte Softball stayed in it until the end, but Valparaiso pulled away late in a 6-5 victory on Monday. La Porte jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Shayla Sorg singled, scoring two runs, and Paige White doubled, scoring one run. A double by Madi Squire gave La Porte the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth. Addison Combs took the loss for La Porte. The pitcher went seven innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on 12 hits, striking out three and walking three. Sorg drove the middle of the lineup, leading La Porte Varsity Slicers with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. White, Squire, and Sorg each collected two hits for La Porte. Next up for La Porte is a game against Portage on Tuesday.
