Game 1 Madi Squire hit two home runs and drove in five as La Porte Softball defeated New Prairie 11-0 on Saturday. Squire homered in the seventh and fourth innings. Addison Combs didn't allow a run. Though New Prairie did collect two hits. La Porte jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Paige White singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run. La Porte added one run in the second after Audrey Kneifel laid down a sacrifice bunt. Squire hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth for the La Porte. Six more La Porte runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 11-0. Allie Wiencek singled, scoring one run, Keraghan Blind drew a walk, scoring one run, and Squire hit a grand slam to center field. La Porte accumulated 11 hits in the game. White and Squire each collected three hits for La Porte. La Porte had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Game 2 La Porte had trouble keeping up with New Prairie in a 10-4 loss on Saturday. La Porte got on the board in the top of the first inning after Evie Travis singled , Paige White singled to left field, and Dani Amaya hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. New Prairie took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the first thanks to three walks. Shayla Sorg doubled, which helped La Porte tie the game at four in the top of the fourth. Jasmyn Moreno went four and one-third innings in relief for La Porte, surrendering six runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking one. Kieanna Simpson opened the game surrendering zero hits and four runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking five. La Porte accumulated 10 hits in the game. Sorg led La Porte with three hits in four at bats. Amaya, White, Travis, and Sorg each drove in one run for La Porte. Madi Squire collected two hits for La Porte in three at bats. La Porte plays at home on Monday against Valparaiso in their next game.
