Paige White collected three hits in three at bats, as La Porte Softball defeated Merrillville 15-1 on Thursday. White hit a home run to center field in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning. La Porte got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after White homered to center field, scoring two runs, Allie Wiencek grounded out, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run. La Porte scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Lexi Surowiec drew a walk, scoring one run, Shayla Sorg tripled, scoring three runs, Kieanna Simpson singled, scoring one run, and Dani Amaya grounded out, scoring one run. La Porte scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Madi Squire singled, scoring one run, Surowiec singled, scoring one run, Sorg doubled, scoring two runs, and Keraghan Blind singled, scoring one run. Addison Combs earned the win for La Porte. The starter surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Blind pitched three innings in relief for La Porte. The hurler surrendered one hit and one run while, striking out five and walking seven. La Porte tallied 11 hits in the game. Sorg provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led La Porte with five runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Squire collected two hits for La Porte in three at bats. Squire, Mia Johnson, and Sorg each stole multiple bases for La Porte. La Porte had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. La Porte was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. La Porte will travel to New Prairie for a double header on Saturday.
