Lexi Surowiec drove in seven runs on four hits to lead La Porte past Michigan City 25-2 on Tuesday. Surowiec hit an inside the park grand slam in the first scoring four, singled in the fourth scoring two, singled in the fifth scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one. La Porte got on the board in the top of the first inning after Surowiec singled, scoring one run, Evie Travis singled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, and Surowiec hit an inside the park grand slam. La Porte added two runs in the second after Kieanna Simpson tripled to center field. A single by Shayla Sorg, and a walk by Allie Wiencek helped La Porte extend their early lead in the third. La Porte scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Madi Squire drew a walk, scoring one run, Surowiec singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Mia Johnson singled, scoring one run. La Porte scored five runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Surowiec singled, scoring two runs, Sorg singled, scoring one run, Travis singled, scoring one run, and Johnson singled, scoring one run. Simpson earned the win for La Porte. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Johnson pitched three innings in relief for La Porte. The reliever gave up one hit and two runs while, striking out seven and walking two. La Porte Varsity Slicers tallied 17 hits in the game. Dani Amaya, Paige White, Travis, Johnson, and Sorg each collected multiple hits for La Porte. Squire led La Porte Varsity Slicers with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 15 walks for the game. Surowiec and Sorg each stole multiple bases for La Porte. La Porte ran wild on the base paths, piling up seven stolen bases for the game. La Porte Varsity Slicers turned one double play in the game. Next up for La Porte is a game against Merrillville on Wednesday.
