In the bottom of the fifth inning, Elkhart went back into the lead after Michaela Manoloff hit into a fielder's choice, Rachae Kidder singled to center field, Addison Reid doubled to center field, and Natalie Smith singled to center field, each scoring one run. Addison Combs took the loss for LaPorte. The pitcher went five innings, giving up 10 runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walking three. LaPorte amassed 12 hits in the game. Simpson and Audrey Kneifel each drove in two runs for LaPorte. Allie Wiencek collected two hits for LaPorte in five at bats. LaPorte had patience at the plate, collecting five walks for the game.
