Evie Travis and Kate Doty broke a 14 year gap of Slicer gymnasts competing at the IHSAA Gymnastics Championships this weekend. Evie qualified to compete in the all around from Regionals after her 1st finish on beam and Kate qualified on beam. Although neither gymnast made the podium the girls were very happy to have the experience. Now they know what to expect and will be better prepared for next year. Travis had two great events on floor and vault. She scored 8.925 on floor placing 41st and 9.2 on vault placing 24th. She had falls on bars (7.05) and beam (8.4) so her all around was lower than all season at 33.575 for 40th. Doty had a very solid beam scoring 9.0 and placing 20th. The girls had a great send off on Friday getting some much needed attention for their efforts. I'm excited to work with them over the summer with our club team to help get them a return visit next season. We are so proud of their efforts!
