Evie Travis & Kate Doty both qualified for the gymnastics regional next weekend at Portage. Travis was 4th on beam with a 9.275 and 5th on floor 9.3. She was 19th on vault 8.675, 14th on bars 8.2, and 8th all-around with a 35.425. Her scores qualified her on all events where she will compete at regionals with teammate Kate Doty. Doty was 3rd on floor 9.35, 15th on vault 8.75, 29th on bars 7.3, 9th on beam 9.05, and 12th all-around 34.45, a season high. Doty will compete on vault, beam and floor at regionals. LaPorte was 7th as a team 100.725 in a very close team competition. I'm so proud of our team. They are so supportive of each other, brought their "A" game, and had a fun day. Other vault finishers were Makenna Minnick 30th 8.175, and Genny Witulski 31st 8.15. Bars finishers were Elena Lozano who tied with Doty scoring a 7.3 for 29th, and Maddie Johnson 37th with a 6.6. Beam finishers were Genny Witulski 38th with a 7.175 and Elena Lozano 41st 6.85. Floor finishers were Makenna Minnick 8.2 for 28th and Molly Thibideau 39th with a 7.725. It's been over 10 years since LaPorte has qualified individual gymnasts beyond sectionals. Travis and Doty set goals at the beginning of the season to qualify for at least one event and they both exceeded their goals. They are such great teammates and bring out the best of each other.
