Slicers Earn Highest Team Score of Season; Finish 7th at DAC

The Slicer Gymnasts earned their highest team score of the season at the DAC Championship this Saturday, Feb. 21 with a 101.65. All of the girls had a great meet. Evie Travis made the podium for two events. She tied for 3rd on beam 9.325, was 6th on vault 9.125, was 7th on floor 9.325 and all-around 35.6 and wa 18th on bars 7.825. Kate Doty was 9th on beam 9.075, 12th on floor 9.175 and all-around 33.925. She was 17th on vault 8.5 and 26th on bars 7.175. Genny Witulski was 27th on vault 8.1 and 18th on beam scoring a season high 8.6. Makenna Minnick was 20th on vault 8.375 and 26th on floor 8.5. Elena Lozano was 28th on bars with a 6.675. Maddie Johnson was 30th on bars 5.925. And Molly Thibideau was 24th on beam with a season high of 8.275 and 31st on floor with a 7.625. I'm so proud of these girls. They had no falls on beam and they kept up a positive energy throughout the meet. I'm excited to see their success at Sectionals next week. They've been working really hard and its great to see their efforts paying off! The teams were well matched with scores for 2nd-7th very close. 1st - Valparaiso 110.7 2nd - Portage & Lake Central tied 105.65 4th - Merrillville 104.475 5th Chesterton 103.6 6th Crown Point 103.375 7th LaPorte 101.65 8th Michigan City 94.5 The Slicers travel to Crown Point for the Sectional Championship Saturday, Feb. 28.
